Jen Winger, lover of all things barbell and previous chef extraordinnare!
I have been employed as a personal trainer for about 2 years now, since completing a diploma in Fitness and Health Promotion from Niagara College. I’ve also recently graduated from Brock University with a Bachelor’s Degree in kinesiology, where I spent a year with the women’s basketball team as a strength coach intern. I recently completed another strength and conditioning internship at Iron Performance Center where I had the opportunity to work with athletes from all different disciplines. I am a CSEP Certified Personal Trainer and hope to also become a certified strength and conditioning specialist (CSCS). My favourite part about coaching is seeing people gain confidence as they increase their strength and learn new skills!
Growing up I played a variety of sports including volleyball, basketball, track and field, and soccer, and continue to play some sports recreationally. I started CrossFit about 5 years ago, and it was something that just clicked for me! I love the group aspect and the motivation that comes with it. Over the years I have competed in several CrossFit team competitions, and have also competed in a few weightlifting competitions.
I enjoy all aspects of fitness, but have a passion for strength and power training. I especially love Olympic Weightlifting because of its combination of strength, power, and technique. I believe that strength is for everyone and that all exercises can be adapted to fit the needs and abilities of each individual, whether they’re an athlete or not! I am looking forward to connecting with Fit Co members and helping them up their fitness game as I share my knowledge and experience. I can’t wait to join you all for some fun and fitness!
